Storytelling, films and literature unfold at the OPL with "Mois de la Francophonie"

OTTAWA – Francophonie Month or le Mois de la Francophonie will captivate Ottawa throughout the month of March, celebrating the richness of the French language and culture. Ottawa Public Library (OPL) invites the French community and French speakers across the city by celebrating all month long with events that bring stories alive, immerse families in diverse Francophone films, books and culture, while fostering literacy and cultural exploration for various ages.

Children six to eight years old can discover the magic of storytelling with at an interactive and creative children's workshop with the 10th Parliamentary Poet Laureate, Marie-Célie Agnant. Short story writer and novelist Marie-Célie Agnant is the author of a remarkable body of work, including the novel "Le Livre d'Emma" and some of her works have been translated into several languages. She brings a passion for education and a wealth of cultural richness to her storytelling that promises an unforgettable experience for children learning the art of words. Join OPL for this event on Friday, March 15 at 1:30 pm at St-Laurent branch (515 Côté).  

Film screenings from the National Film Board (NFB)  

Film lovers and those wanting to discover some of the latest and most exciting films, in French by Canadian film makers are invited to screenings at 10 OPL branches across the City during Francophonie Month. This is a great chance to join neighbours and friends at the Library and enjoy discovering an incredibly various line-up of short, medium and full-length films from the NFB's Rendez-vous de la Francophonie catalogue. Check the OPL website for details, location and times and you might become a cinéphile this Mois de la Francophonie.  
 
In addition to these Francophonie Month events, remember that OPL's YouTube channel has rich content in French, including a series called Stories From My Community.
