Ottawa Public Library celebrates National Indigenous History Month

Wednesday, May 27, 2020

Ottawa – As in past years, this June, Ottawa Public Library (OPL) will proudly celebrate National Indigenous History Month. Due to the unique situation in which we find ourselves, our programs and events (details below) will take place online.

OPL Indigenous History Month eRead & Online Discussion

Starting June 1, we invite everyone to read Crow Winter, by Karen McBride, an Algonquin Anishinaabe writer from the Timiskaming First Nation. EBook versions of Crow Winter will be available with no holds or waitlists for unlimited numbers of readers for the entire month! The public will also have the opportunity to attend an online discussion and meet the author. This discussion will take place online on Wednesday, June 24 at 7 pm.

Concert with Twin Flames

Join award-winning folk duo Twin Flames for an online concert!  Not only are their songs written in English, French and Inuktitut, they incorporate traditional and western instruments.

Tuesday June 16 at 7 pm on Facebook Live

Children’s and Teen Storytelling with Daniel Richer
