Ottawa Public Library and Happiness Habits 613 join forces to help beat the Winter Blues

Wednesday, February 12, 2020

OTTAWA – Ottawa Public Library and Happiness Habits 613 proudly present a screening of The Happy Movie on February 24, 2020 at 6:15 pm at the Ottawa Art Gallery.

The 2011 feature documentary film directed, written, and co-produced by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Roko Belic, explores human happiness through interviews with people from all walks of life in 14 different countries, weaving in the newest findings of positive psychology.

After the screening, there will be a lecture by Dr. John M. Zelenski, Professor of Psychology at Carleton University, followed by a Q&A.

As a researcher and director of Carleton University’s Happiness Laboratory, Dr. Zelenski studies individual differences in happiness, and how personality manifests itself ‘in the moment’ as emotional, behavioural, and cognitive processes. His recent work has focused on two areas: the causes and consequences of social behaviour (such as in relation to the personality trait of introversion-extraversion), and the links among nature, people’s sense of connection to nature (nature relatedness), happiness, and environmentally sustainable behaviour.
