Wednesday, June 10, 2020

OTTAWA.– As summer approaches, all eyes turn to the Library for Ottawa Public Library’s Summer Reading Club. We are pleased to announce an engaging online summer program for children aged 2 to 12, starting June 22, 2020 and continuing until August 21, 2020. This new virtual program, called Summerland, is designed to support continuity in children’s literacy and keep children entertained and upbeat all summer long.

Children from across Ottawa are invited to visit Summerland, OPL’s 2020 Summer Reading Club, where they can enjoy a daily mix of fun and learning activities such as:

  • Storytimes

  • Arts and crafts

  • Dance

  • Technology

  • Science

  • Music

  • Drama

  • Special guests and more!

The Kids’ Zone in our website will have a makeover in the coming weeks and parents will be able to look at the schedule of activities and sign up for programs that require prior registration, using their library card.

In addition to OPL activities, our young readers and visitors to Summerland will also be able to enjoy a full range of eBooks and activities featured on the TD Summer Reading Club website and will be able to create their own online reading notebook.

Stay tuned for news next week on when registration opens. In the meantime, include Summerland in your summer plans and get ready for a wonderful summer of discovery and growth. Details will be available soon on the OPL website: BiblioOttawaLibrary.ca.
