Everyone has a green thumb - Planning and enjoying your garden with OPL and the Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton

OTTAWA - There may be snow lingering on the ground, but spring is just around the corner. As we continue to spend more time at home, our gardens are getting plenty of attention! Ottawa Public Library is partnering with the Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton to offer a series of online gardening programs throughout the spring,summer and into the fall on a wide variety of gardening topics.

Perhaps your goal for your garden this year is to create your own green space where you can relax and enjoy the outdoors? Or are you wanting to ensure asuper localsource of fresh food all summer long? Maybe youare looking for outdoor gardening activities to share with your children? Few things aremore rewarding than being able to step outside your door to pick a handful of fresh herbs or a tomato to use in your meal. Even if you don’t have a yard, you can successfully grow plants in containers on a balcony or even a windowsill.

The series runs on select Wednesdaysfrom 12noon to 1 pm, starting in late March with sessions about, what else, starting plants from seeds.All ofthese events are free,and registration will ensure you receive areminder and link. There are programsoffered in Englishand French, so take advantage of the knowledge and the enthusiasm of the local master gardeners. Watch for more programs to sprout upas the growing season progresses!
