Celebrate Franco-Ontarian literature once more with Croisée des mots!

Wednesday, January 4, 2023

Ottawa - Once again, the Ottawa Public Library (OPL) is joining forces with the Association des auteures et auteurs de l’Ontario français (AAOF) for sessions of Croisée des mots. Francophiles and fans of Francophone literature will have the chance to meet renowned local authors and enjoy their most recent works.

For many years, Croisée des mots has helped raise the profile of Francophone literature at OPL. It’s a special occasion for local authors to showcase their talent and get to know their readers.

From January to April, local authors will be celebrated online, sharing their words, poetry, ideas, stories, suspense and more to an online audience of avid readers, led by host, columnist, voice-over artist and emcee Hugues Beaudoin-Dumouchel. Here are the talented authors you will be able to meet at Croisée des mots.

  • Andrée Lacelle, January 18, 2023, at 7 pm. Andrée Lacelle was the first Francophone winner of the Trillium Book Award in 1995 for Tant de vie s’égare, which was also a finalist for the Governor General’s Awards. She was also the City of Ottawa’s first Francophone poet laureate (2017-2019).

  • Sébastien Pierroz, March 15, 2023, at 7pm. In Ontario, he was first a reporter for Le Reflet in Eastern Ontario (2011-2012), then for L'Express d'Ottawa from September 2012 to December 2014. From January 2015, he joined ONFR+ of the TFO Media Group, to become its editor-in-chief in 2016, and producer in 2021. He published his first novel Entre parenthèses with Éditions Prise de parole (2016), which was a finalist for the Ottawa Book Award in 2017. Deux heures avant la fin de l'été published by Éditions David is his second novel.

If you would like to attend any of the sessions of Croisée des mots, registration is now open. Croisée des mots will also be presented in other parts of Ontario with the support of the Greater Sudbury Public Library and the Toronto French Book Fair. Visit the AAOF website to find out more.
