Spotlight on Francophonie Month

Marie Celie Agnant mois de la francophonie

Mar 05, 2024

OPL offers you a view of the world and the imagination for this month's Francophonie.

On Friday, March 15 at 1:30 pm, join us at the St-Laurent branch for the Autour du conte program with Marie Célie Agnant, a workshop for children aged 8 to 10 where, at the whim of their imaginations, the tale is invented, set up, and comes to life before their very eyes, as participants play, mime, sing, and dive into the creation a collective tale. Register early, places are limited!

Poet, short story writer and novelist Marie-Célie Agnant is the author of a remarkable body of work, including several novels and short story collections, as well as three collections of poems, including Femmes des terres brûlées, for which she received the 2017 Alain-Grandbois Award from the Académie des Lettres du Québec.

In addition to this workshop, many of our branches (Beaverbrook, Blackburn Hamlet, Centrale, Cumberland, Elmvale Acres, North Gloucester, Nepean Centrepointe, Rosemount, St-Laurent) are offering screenings of French-language NFB films on a variety of subjects - keep an eye on our Francophonie Month programs page for screening dates and times!

And don't forget to check out our francophone content, available all year long! Here's a list of books around Francophonie month; and make sure to visit our French-language digital resources (as well as our bilingual digital resources) to access the treasures of la Francophonie in the comfort of your own home and without worrying about branch opening hours!
