April is the time to celebrate Poetry Month, and the theme this year from the League of Canadian Poets is joy. Poetry is for everyone, and Ottawa Public Library is here to spread the poetic joy! During this 25th annual Poetry Month, join OPL in appreciating poetry, reading poetry, listening to poetry, writing poetry, and sharing poetry.
The Library is offering a variety of programs from all through April that will help to foster an interest in poetry and encourage its creation. OPL has engaged talented educators and poets, for free events that everyone can enjoy:
- April 1, at 2 pm, Atelier d'initiation à la poésie
- April 8, at 1 pm, Poetry Workshop with author Michèle Vinet
- April 13, at 7 pm, Spoken word workshop with Ariel Clarke (Virtual)
- April 18, at 6:30 pm, Poetry Workshop with author Michèle Vinet
- April 20, at 10:30 am, Rhythm and Rhyme with Cathy Jackson
- April 21, at 4 pm, Teen Open Mic - Micro ouvert pour ados
- April 22, at 1:30 pm, Atelier de poésie avec l'auteure Michèle Vinet
- April 27, at 7 pm, Live and Express your Joy through Poetry with Eddie Lartey
- April 29, at 2 pm, Poetry Time with Uncle Leo and Friends
- April 29, at 2 pm, Atelier d'initiation à la poésie
