Sunday hours resume at certain OPL branches for the month of June

Thursday, June 3, 2021

OTTAWA – Ottawa Public Library will be resuming Sunday hours, with curbside service, at six branches in June.    Beaverbrook, Cumberland, Greenboro, Main, Nepean Centrepointe, and Ruth E Dickinson branches will be open Sundays June 6, 13, 20 and 27, from 1 pm to 5 pm.    OPL’s InfoService will also be in operation at those times, so that cardholders can contact us by phone, email or chat.    Sunday hours will then be paused for the months of July and August, as in previous years. If is safe to do so, and provincial regulations allow, we hope to continue to offer Sunday hours after Labour Day (September 6).    Upcoming holiday closures include July 1 (Canada Day), August 2 (Colonel By Day) and September 6 (Labour Day).    Throughout the city, 31 Library branches remain open for curbside services, including printing, Chromebook loans, and outdoor WiFi at many branches. Returns and holds pick up can be made without an appointment by lining up at the branch entrance, where employees are there to help. Cardholders can return Library items only when branches are open. Homebound and Bookmobile Services continue, though customers cannot enter the vehicle.     OPL continues to follow direction from the Province of Ontario and guidance from Ottawa Public Health to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our community, and as such, mask-wearing outside in line remains mandatory. We are playing our part in reducing the potential transmission of the virus, while still offering curbside services at 31 open branches.    BiblioOttawaLibrary.ca, the OPL website, is available 24/7 for virtual browsing of our catalogue, varied digital resources and a wide range of virtual programs.
