Ottawa Public Library (OPL) is thrilled to announce an absolute game-changer for reading enthusiasts by launching a new Book Club Kit program for library cardholders. With access to multiple copies of a variety of titles, the Book Club Kit program aims to make it easier to run or start a book club by providing all the resources needed to get started with one convenient package.
Through the launch of this new program, OPL hopes to foster a love of reading and promote community through shared reading experiences. The Library has crafted curated kits that will transport book club participants to diverse worlds, challenge the intellect, fire up imaginations and inspire passionate discussions among friends and booklovers new and old.
Books and conversation can bring people closer, build connections, and expand hearts and minds. No wonder book clubs are more popular than ever. "Book clubs are fabulous for bringing people together. Sharing thoughts and ideas about a book can deepen friendships, just as it can enhance the enjoyment of reading. We hope that these Book Club Kits will encourage people to read more and create lasting connections to each other and to the Library,” said OPL Chief Librarian and CEO Sonia Bebbington. “These kits open doors to captivating conversations, for sharing experiences, and they encourage lifelong learning. They serve as catalysts for understanding and communication, making them marvelous tools for building community."
The Library has 90 kits available, with a variety of popular fiction and non-fiction titles in French and English to provide a gateway for readers to delve into diverse stories and connect with fellow book enthusiasts. The kit comes complete with thought-provoking discussion questions that will ignite fiery debates, unveil hidden meanings, and reveal the depths of a fellow reader’s insight. Library clients can check out these kits just like they would any other library item, accessing the Book Club Kits couldn't be easier.
