Ottawa Public Library hours to increase after Thanksgiving

Thursday, September 22, 2022

OTTAWA- Ottawa Public Library is pleased to announce that opening hours will increase starting October 11. Tuesday and Thursday morning hours have been added to most urban and suburban branches. All hours can be reviewed on OPL’s Hours and Locations web page.

Despite ongoing staffing pressures, OPL is pleased to be able to provide more opening hours across most of the Library’s 33 branches. Having resumed Sunday service at 10 branches after Labour Day, with newly expanded full-day hours from 10 am to 5 pm, OPL will continue to expand branch hours after Thanksgiving.

As of Tuesday, October 11 most urban and suburban branches will be open from 10 am to 8 pm on Tuesdays and Thursday, allowing for more morning availability and the return of some favourite programs such as Babytime and Storytime.

Additional hours are also coming to some rural branches with both Osgoode and Vernon expanding their evening hours on Tuesday, as another step towards resuming regular, pre-pandemic hours of operation. Furthermore, the long-awaited return of local branch service to Metcalfe village is here, with the new branch location in the Town Hall, 8243 Victoria Street, opening on October 13, 2022.

BiblioOttawaLibrary.ca, the OPL website, is available 24/7 for virtual browsing of our catalogue, varied digital resources and a wide range of virtual programs.
