OPL Main branch closed on Saturday, January 30 due to power shutdown

OTTAWA - Due to a planned power shutdown at 120 Metcalfe St. and 191 LaurierAvenue, the Main branch of Ottawa Public Library will be closed on Saturday, January 30. There will be no electricity in the conjoined buildings from 5:30 pm on Friday, January 29 until 6 pm on Saturday, January30.

  • There will be no returns or holds pickup that day.

  • Holds on the shelves at the Main Branch will be extended for one day.

  • The book drops will be closed.

  • There will be no access to the parking garage located at 191 Laurier.

The closest locations available for library services are:

  • Sunnyside: 1049 Bank – open from 10 am to 4 pm

  • Rosemount: 18 Rosemount – open from 10 am to 4 pm

  • Rideau: 377 Rideau– open from 10 am to 4 pm

Although the branch will be closed, online services are always available at https://biblioottawalibrary.ca/en. The Main Branch will reopen on February 1at 10 am.
