Launch events

  • Unleash: Igniting Creativity Through Art and Sound by Kathryn Patricia, June 30, from 2 to 3 pm
Start the summer season off with a bang! OPL invites every kid in Ottawa to the launch concert, Unleash: Igniting Creativity Through Art and Sound by musician and educator Kathryn Patricia, on June 30, from 2 to 3 p.m., online on Zoom or in a hybrid format at selected branches. Kathryn Patricia uses music in her interactive performances to explore how stories are told. The audience will also draw inspiration from the music to create their own story.
  • Get Your Summer Read On Day!
Although activities officially start on July 3, some branches are organizing launch events called Get Your Summer Read On Day! between June 12 and June 24. Find out more at your local branch.

Reading Draw
Throughout the summer, kids are encouraged to read every day of the TD Summer Reading Club and to track their progress in their TD Summer Reading Club reading log. Towards the end of summer, all kids who participated in Summer Reading Club will have a chance to win a fabulous prize by entering their reading log into a prize draw. Parents can pick up a reading log chart for each of their young readers at any of our branches.

The TD Summer Reading Club is a popular summer tradition for kids and families, one of the ways OPL promotes literacy for youth of all ages. Children will not want to miss out on the summer reading fun! For more information about the TD Summer Reading Club, visit BiblioOttawaLibrary.ca.
