Lee Maracle, Indigenous Author and Poet, dies at 71

Lee Maracle was a powerful presence in the Indigenous and Canadian literary world.  A Matriarch of Indigenous literature, she was bold, brash and insistent as a storyteller - she had something to say and she said it well with wit, character and intelligence.  Lee Maracle was a trailblazer, and a mentor to others.  From Bobbi Lee: Indian Rebel to Celia's Song to My Conversations with Canadians, her influence was broad and deep, garnering her the Order of Canada.  She was a member of the Stó:lō Nation and daughter of a Métis mother and Coast Salish father.
