International Women’s Day 2023: Embrace Equity

“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity” (IWD, 2023) 

On March 8, people all over the world will be celebrating International Women’s Day – and the achievements made by women, as well as a continued call to action to improve equality (and equity) for women. 

The theme this year is “Embrace Equity.”  Seven missions/objectives have been identified for this year: 

• Celebrate women creating change (in technology, community, workplaces and more) 
• Elevate the work of creative women, and elevate visibility  
• Create inclusive work cultures that celebrate achievements and help careers thrive 
• Improve and advance the arena of women in the realm of innovation and technology 
• Uplift and inspire women to pursue goals without bias /barrier 
• Empower women to make their own informed choices regarding their health  
• Celebrate female athletes and celebrate when equality in pay, sponsorship and visibility is achieved  (IWD, 2023)
