On September 5, the Library will return to a full complement of open hours at all of OPL’s 33 branches, making it easier for everyone to access the Library in person seven days a week!
Notably, OPL branches will offer improved and expanded hours in order to meet the wide-ranging needs of a diverse clientele with various schedules. To check the hours of the OPL branch you want to visit, current hours are posted at branch entrances and under the hours and location page on the OPL website.

We would like to highlight two upcoming occasions that we don’t want you to miss at your local branch:
On September 30, from 10 am to 5 pm, we invite you to visit one of the seven library branches that will be open for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to learn more about the history and lasting effects of Canada’s residential school system, and how each of us might help reconciliation.
In October we celebrate Library Month! OPL will highlight the library's role as a cornerstone of our democratic society — showcasing our commitment to intellectual freedom and promoting information literacy. We’re kicking things off with a panel of top authors on October 2, which will tackle the meaty topics of intellectual freedom, censorship, and banned books.
For more information on other upcoming events or to find your next great read, BiblioOttawaLibrary.ca is available around the clock for virtual browsing of our catalogue, a full gamut of digital resources and a wide range of virtual programs on OPL’s YouTube channel.
So, there you have it – a thrilling update from Ottawa Public Library that promises extended hours and an ever-accessible online world of knowledge. As summer winds down and fall approaches, make the Library part of your day. Immerse yourself in a world of books, information, and community at your favorite OPL branch. The Library is ready to welcome you with open arms and a wealth of resources that are yours to discover, in-person or online, or both!
